Co-Director, Climate Majority Project
Dr Rupert Read is the Co-Director of the Climate Majority Project, having previously helped launch Extinction Rebellion and serving as a strategist, political liaison lead, and national spokesperson for them. He has appeared numerous times of QuestionTime, the Today Programme, Newsnight, The World At One, Politics Live, and Good Morning Britain, as well as on The Verb, and Freethinking. He is the author most recently of Why Climate Breakdown Matters (Bloomsbury Press), and recently ‘retired’ from being a Professor of Philosophy at the University of East Anglia to instead co-lead the CMP. Alongside Liam Kavanagh and Rosie Bell, he co-edited the book The Climate Majority Project: Setting the Stage for a Mainstream Urgent Climate Movement (London Publishing Partnership, 2024).
