Patrick Roberts is an Independent W2 Research Group Leader of the isoTROPIC group at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena, Germany, and a National Geographic Explorer. He is the author of Jungle: How Tropical Forests Shaped the World – and Us (out in paperback with Viking/Penguin Random House on 1 July 2022).
