John Martin Fischer

John Martin Fischer is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of California, Riverside, and University Professor in the University of California. He was Project Leader of the Immortality Project, a 5.2 million dollar grant from the John Templeton Foundation (2012-15). Fischer has published widely on free will, moral responsibility, ethics, and the metaphysics and ethics of death and immortality. Oxford University Press has recently published two books by him on death (and related subjects, including near-death experiences, meaning in life, and end-of-life care): Near-Death Experiences: Understanding Visions of the Afterlife (co-authored with Benjamin Mitchell-Yellin, 2016), and Death, Immortality, and Meaning in Life (2020).
