Emile Chabal

Reader in History, University of Edinburgh

Emile Chabal is reader in history at the University of Edinburgh and the director of the Centre for the Study of Modern and Contemporary History. He is a specialist of 20th-century French history and politics. He has published a wide variety of academic books and articles. He also writes about contemporary politics for British, French, Indian and German media outlets. His next project is an intellectual biography of the Marxist historian, Eric Hobsbawm.
