Belinda Jack is a tutorial fellow in French at Christ Church college at the University of Oxford. Her books include George Sand: A Woman’s Life Writ Large (Chatto and Windus, 1999), The Woman Reader (Yale, 2012) and A Very Short Introduction to Reading (Oxford University Press, 2019). She has been commissioned to produce translations of four Colette works for Penguin World Classics to be published in 2024. She is also writing a new biography.
